The Night of the Stolen Cheese

Once upon a time, there was a cat named Charlie and a mouse named Milo. They were the best of friends. They lived together and spent every day searching for food. Whenever they found something, they would always split it evenly, each taking half.

Milo was quick and impulsive. Every time he got his food, he would gobble it up immediately. Charlie, on the other hand, liked to save his food, enjoying it slowly when he got hungry.

One day, a terrible storm swept through their town. The wind howled, and rain poured down in buckets. Finding food in such terrible weather was almost impossible. After hours of searching, they finally found a small piece of cheese just before sunset. As usual, they divided it into two equal parts. Milo devoured his portion instantly, licking his whiskers in satisfaction. Charlie, though his stomach growled with hunger, decided to save his piece for breakfast the next day. He wanted to make sure he had enough energy to look for food tomorrow.

That night, while Charlie was sound asleep in his cozy bed, Milo lay awake. His stomach grumbled loudly, and he couldn’t stop thinking about Charlie’s cheese. He tried to resist the temptation, but eventually, he gave in. He tiptoed to Charlie’s bed, took a tiny nibble of the cheese, and, when Charlie didn’t wake up, Milo ate the entire piece.

The next morning, Charlie stretched and yawned, ready to enjoy his breakfast. But when he went to grab his cheese, it was gone! He searched the room high and low. Finally, he noticed a few crumbs stuck to Milo’s whiskers. Realizing what had happened, Charlie was furious. He turned to Milo and shouted, “You stole my cheese! How dare you! I’m going to eat you for this!”

Milo, terrified by Charlie’s roar, scurried into the tiny hole in the wall. Charlie tried to chase him, but his body was too big to fit into the narrow space. Frustrated, Charlie sat by the hole, waiting for Milo to come out. But Milo had already sneaked out through another exit.

From that day on, Charlie searched for Milo everywhere. And whenever Milo saw Charlie, he would run away as fast as his little legs could carry him.
